FDCP, NYC, NCCA & MTRCB Partner for Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino

In joint support of the Pista ng Pelikulang Pihpino (PPP). the National Youth Commission (NYC), National Commission on Culture and Arts (NCCA) and the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) have pledged its partnership with the Film Development Council of the Philippines to celebrate Philippine cinema in August.

During the joint press launch and ceremonial MOA signing last May 10, 2017 at Salu Restaurant in Quezon City, NYC, NCCA and MTRCB have announced that they will be conducting the following events for PPP:

  • NYC and NCCA’s Cine Kabataan – a short film competition for the youth which touches on the current issues faced by the youths of today
  • MTRCB’S Matalinong Panonood Program an audience-oriented program for responsible viewership

Finalists of the Cine Kabataan will be featured along with the full feature counterparts of PPP while Matalinong Panonood Program will be in line with the parallel events to be conducted in August. From July to August, several film caravans and film forums will be held all over the country.

NYC was represented by its Chairman Cariza Seguerra while Vice Chairperson Emmanuel Borlaza attended on behalf of Chairperson Rachel Arenas of the MTRCB.

“NYC, NCCA, and MTRCB’s participation and support of the Pista ng Pelikulang Filipino mean a great deal to us and the film industry. This just shows government agencies coming together as a united front to empower our filmmakers and engage our audience,” said FDCP Chairperson Liza Dino.

Organized by the FDCP in partnership with theater organizations, Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino is a one-week exclusive screening of Filipino iilms in all theaters nationwide. As an audience-oriented celebration, PPP will feature ten (10) to twelve (12) quality genre films which they may choose from.
